Over 70 students at Ramstein Middle School in Germany played MathCraft for four hours a day during one week in March 2016. Independent assessors were on site, and they were very impressed with the constant high level of engagement that the players had throughout the event. We measured the math abilities for all of the players before and after the event and every single player had an increase in their average score. In this early alpha-level deployment we also identified several ways to make the game-playing experience smoother for all players. Participants in our upcoming public Beta weekend will benefit from the improvements we made in response.
