Dr. Curtis has worked at Cycorp since 1999, contributing to the development of the Cyc ontology as an ontologist and project manager. He received his Ph.D. in Philosophy at the Ohio State University in 1999, where he specialized in the history of analytic philosophy and the philosophy of logic. His recent research has focused on the use of ontologies in Natural Language Processing, and on knowledge interchange language design for machine learning. Dr. Curtis was a major contributor to the LSCOM endeavor, directly influencing the form and content of the LSCOM ontology, a standardized ontology for image annotation and retrieval. He is currently project manager of Cycorp's Bootstrapped Learning effort. He has authored a number of publications pertaining to ontologies, automated knowledge acquisition, and natural language processing. His publications can be found on the Cycorp publications page.
